Palmetto Health clinicians lead free training
Palmetto Health Richland Trauma Center is sponsoring a National Stop the Bleed Day training courses Saturday, March 24 at Palmetto Health Richland Auditorium, 5 Medical Park. Two training sessions will be offered 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. This free training is open to anyone in the community and no prior clinical training is needed. To register, call 803-296-CARE (2273). The deadline to register is Friday, March 9.
The objective of the Stop the Bleed training courses and other just like it held around the country is to save lives by teaching the civilian population to provide vital initial response to stop uncontrolled bleeding in emergency situations before professional help arrives.
Motivated by the Sandy Hook tragedy in 2012 and multiple tragedies that have occurred in subsequent years, the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma developed Stop the Bleed education and information to inform, educate and empower surrounding citizens across the United States.
