Tuomey Healthcare System becomes Palmetto Health Tuomey
Palmetto Health and Tuomey Healthcare System have finalized their partnership. With the completion of the negotiations, Tuomey Healthcare System becomes Palmetto Health Tuomey. The two health care systems have been exploring a formal partnership since the announcement in February that the Tuomey Healthcare System Board elected to enter into exclusive negotiations with Palmetto Health. In October, leaders from Palmetto Health and Tuomey announced finalizing negotiations with the goal for the partnership to become operational on Jan. 1, 2016.
Charles D. Beaman, Jr., Palmetto Health Chief Executive Officer, said, “Today we welcome our newest team members, physicians and volunteers to Palmetto Health as part of Palmetto Health Tuomey. Many of us from Palmetto Health and the former Tuomey Healthcare System have been working together for several months to bring our partnership together. Today we are one.”
Palmetto Health also named Michelle Logan-Owens, who has been serving as president and CEO of Tuomey Healthcare System since June, as the chief operating officer of Palmetto Health Tuomey. In this role, she will oversee the operations of Palmetto Health Tuomey and report directly to Palmetto Health President John Singerling. This structure is identical to other Palmetto Health campuses.
