Palmetto Health recognizes 2016 Palmetto Gold recipients

Eight selected for excellence in and commitment to the nursing profession.

Eight nurses from Palmetto Health have been selected to receive the 2016 Palmetto Gold award. Each year, the South Carolina Nurses Foundation selects 100 nurses from across the state to receive the Palmetto Gold award for their excellence in nursing and their commitment to the nursing profession.

Palmetto Health is proud to congratulate the 2016 Palmetto Gold winners:

  • Ros Squirewell, RN, BSN, MHA – Nursing Education Specialist, Nursing Education Orientation and Training
  • Amber Privett RN, BSN, CCRN – Staff Nurse Educator, Medical Intensive Care Unit
  • Karen Moring, RN, BSN – Nurse Manager, Coronary Care Unit
  • Samica Snipes-Smith, RN, BSN, MSN, CMSRN – Clinical Practice Specialist, Medical Surgical Services
  • Hope Stack, RN, BSN – Manager, RN Operations, Medical Surgical Services
  • Pattie Heady, RN – Nursing Engagement Partner, Nursing Engagement
  • Ashley Locklear, MSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM – Clinical Practice Specialist, Women’s and Neonatal Services
  • Christina Lafoon, RN, BSN, CCRN – Registered Nurse, Outpatient Surgery

The Palmetto Gold award is part of the Palmetto Gold Nurse Recognition and Scholarship Program. Nurses receiving the award must meet the following criteria:

  • Promotes and advances the profession of nursing in a positive way in the practice setting or in the community.
  • Contributes to overall outcomes in the practice area/setting.
  • Displays caring and commitment to patients, families and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates leadership and assists others in growth and development.
