EVENT: Love Your Melon’s superheroes will distribute 75 hats to children in the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. The superheroes also will read selections from the organization’s new book, “Adventures of the Super Crew.” The book, designed to reflect character qualities that children need throughout the difficulties of medical treatment, provides a light-hearted and therapeutic experience for children battling cancer.

FACTS: Love Your Melon was founded in an entrepreneurship class in Minnesota by two friends. The simple idea was to put a hat on every child battling cancer in America. After achieving its original goal of giving 45,000 hats – one for every child battling cancer in America – Love Your Melon set a new goal of giving $1 million to pediatric cancer research, along with providing immediate support to children and their families. To date, Love Your Melon has donated over $2.6 million and 110,000 hats.
