EVENT: Palmetto Health will help begin the New Year restoring vision to a local community member through Operation Sight. Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group Ophthalmologist Bethany Markowitz, M.D., and Columbia anesthesiologist Roman Williams, M.D., will volunteer their services to the patient who is legally blind in his left eye.
The surgery is being funded in collaboration among Palmetto Health, Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group and Operation Sight. Operation Sight is a U.S.-based charitable program, organized by the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Foundation, a group focused on providing sight-saving eye surgery to patients in need and eliminating preventable blindness caused by cataracts.
