At Palmetto Health Tuomey, we strive to make you or your loved one's stay with us as comfortable as possible.  Below, you will find information regarding various services and conveniences offered for your comfort, as well as certain guidelines applicable during your time with us.

ATM Machine

There are two automatic teller machines located near the cafeteria and one in the Emergency Department. Withdrawals, transfers and inquiries can be performed at these machines. The machines also accept teller cards in the Cirrus, Honor, AFFN and Exchange ATM networks. Fees from other financial institutions may apply.

Baker's Sweets Bakery & Cafe

For your convenience, Baker's Sweets Bakery & Cafe is now available in the hospital lobby. They offer salads, sandwiches, coffees, Danishes, breads, muffins, cookies, and other quick pick-up items.

Cafeteria

The hospital cafeteria is located on the first floor, down the hallway from the main lobby. It is open during the following hours for patients, visitors and employees:

  • Breakfast – 6:30-8:30 a.m. (daily)
  • Lunch – 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (daily)
  • Dinner – 4:30-9 p.m., Monday-Friday; 4:30-6 p.m., Saturday-Sunday

Chapel

Chapel services are conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in our chapel. The chapel is located on the second floor next to the ICU waiting room and is open for patients and visitors 24 hours a day.

Chaplaincy Services

The Chaplaincy Services department is available to you 24 hours a day. If you would like to talk to a chaplain, please call Chaplaincy Services at 803-774-8755.

Electrical Appliances

For your safety, the hospital discourages bringing electrical appliances from home. If absolutely necessary, please bring it to the attention of the nursing staff. The following items are permitted after being checked by the hospital's Plant Services: hair dryers, curlers, curling irons, battery-operated radios and electric razors. Please ask your nurse how to have your appliances checked.

Gift Shop

The Gift Shop is located on the first floor in the lobby. It is open during the following hours:

  • Monday - Friday 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Sunday 2:30-5:30 p.m.

Mail, Flowers and Balloons

Mail, flowers and mylar balloons will be delivered to your room by volunteers. Mail received after you have been discharged will be forwarded to your home address. Unfortunately, patients in the Intensive Care Unit are not allowed flowers in their rooms because of the intense nature of their medical care and lack of space. Also, no latex balloons are allowed in the facility.

A notary is available on each patient care unit. Ask your nurse for more information if you need a notary.

Telephone Calls

Incoming
Your room may be called directly by dialing 803-774-9xxx, with your room number being the last three numbers. Phone calls to patient rooms can be made only after 8 a.m. and before 9 p.m.

Outgoing
For local calls, dial "7" for the dial tone, then dial the number you wish to reach. Long distance calls can be placed by dialing "7-0-0" for an outside operator. There is a delay once dialed, so please hold on to be connected. Long distance calls must be made collect or charged to your credit card or home phone. No calls can be charged to your room.

Within Hospital
To make a call within the hospital, dial the four-digit extension of the department you wish to reach.

Television

A radio station and a patient education channel are included on your TV set. On the patient education channels, you will find selected programs on health education. These programs may be interesting and helpful to you and your family while you are a patient at Palmetto Health Tuomey:

  • Channel 4 Medical/Surgical
  • Channel 5 Obstetrics/Gynecology
  • Channel 6 Pediatrics
  • Channel 57 Oncology

If you do not have a copy of the educational TV schedule, please ask for one from your nurse.

Valet Parking

For your convenience, Palmetto Health Tuomey offers valet parking for its patients and their visitors. This service is available during the following hours:

  • Main Entrance 7 a.m.-6 p.m., daily.
  • MOB I 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Friday.
  • MOB II 6:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Friday.

Valuables

We strongly advise that you not keep valuables in your hospital room. If other arrangements are not possible, you may deposit your valuable items in the hospital vault located in the Business Office. The hospital is not responsible for valuables kept in your room.

Vending Machines

There is a vending area located on the first floor outside the cafeteria and also in the Emergency Department. It is open 24 hours a day, with hot and cold foods available. A microwave oven and tables are located in the snack area for your convenience.

Wi-Fi Access

Free public Wi-Fi access is available anywhere on Palmetto Health Tuomey's main campus, including patient rooms. You can work on your laptop or PDA or check email while you visit a friend or wait on a family member having surgery. Click on the "Tuomey Public" network to access our Wi-Fi service.
