Supporting specialty programs for children

A champion fights for and protects a cause. As a member of the Champions Society, you can help to ensure Prisma Health Children’s Hospital–Midlands patients and their families are cared for by the best physicians right here in the Midlands.

The Champions Society is an annual giving society of Prisma Health Midlands Foundation and the Prisma Health Children’s Hospital–Midlands Board. The Society is led by a volunteer committee and comprised of donors who pledge to contribute a minimum of $1,000 annually.

Funding pediatric subspecialists

Funds contributed by Champions Society members support the Pediatric Subspecialist Fund at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital–Midlands. The purpose of fund is to support the recruitment of pediatric subspecialists, associated practice start-up expenses, the establishment of new programs directed by these subspecialists and/or to purchase necessary equipment.

Pediatric subspecialists are necessary in our community for the diagnosis and treatment of children’s complex medical conditions. Examples of subspecialists include pediatric endocrinologists, cardiologists, neurologists and gastroenterologists. These physicians are difficult to recruit because they are limited in number nationally in comparison to demand.

By joining the Champions Society, you are helping Children’s Hospital ensure we have all the doctors our children need, right here in Columbia, so that families won’t have to travel long distances for care by a pediatric subspecialist. Last year, the Champions Society provided more than $74,000 to support pediatric subspecialty programs.

Society members will have an opportunity to meet Children’s Hospital physicians to better understand the critical need for these subspecialists and learn more about the great work being done at Children’s Hospital.

Champions Society members receive the following benefits:

  • Two complimentary reservations for the Festival of Trees Auction Preview held annually in November (rate for general public is $125/person).
  • The chance to build strong connections with other members and donors.
  • Name recognition on the beautiful new donor wall in Children’s Hospital.
  • The chance to take advantage of free, confidential, estate planning consultation.

How to join

Membership in the Champions Society simply requires a gift of $1,000, or more, payable over a 12-month period. Gifts may be made in honor or memory of a loved one or caregiver. Donations of a lesser amount also are welcome.
