2010 Walk for Life/ 5K Race for Life Featured Breast Cancer Survivor Wendy Duheme
At age 47, Wendy Duheme was told she had breast cancer. Within seven days of diagnosis, Wendy had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She then began chemotherapy. Ironically, she was a patient of Palmetto Health Breast Center, where she worked as a mammography technologist. "Working in this field for so long had made me really aware," commented Duheme. 2009 at a glance... Palmetto Health Foundation's Walk for Life 2009 was held October 3. Nearly 6,000 walkers participated, and more than $460,000 (including in-kind donations) was raised for Palmetto Health Breast Center. Thanks to our sponsors, participants, volunteers and other supporters.
